[2023 세계민주주의의 날 기념 성명서]

광주인권상 수상자인 우리는 인권상 수상자인 아딜루 라만 칸과 방글라데시의 저명한 인권옹호기관인 이란교원노동조합위원회(이하 이란교사노조)에 대한 법적 고발을 통한 괴롭힘과 협박에 대해 깊은 우려를 표한다. 우리는 이러한 노골적인 인권침해와 국민의 정의와 평등을 위해 목숨을 바친 인권옹호기관과 노동조합에 대한 박해에 대해 매우 유감스럽게 생각한다.

아딜루 라만 칸은 인권옹호를 위한 끊임없는 노력과 방글라데시 보안국의 고문, 살해, 실종 등 정부의 불법행위를 폭로한 혐의를 받고 있다.

또한 광주인권상 특별상 수상단체인 이란교사노조, 특히 이란교사노조의 국제대표인 시바 아멜리라드도 이란 정부로부터 유사한 박해를 받고 있다.  우리는 지식을 전달하고 청소년들의 역량을 키워 국가의 미래를 창조하는 데 이란교사노조가 해야 할 중요한 역할과 역할을 인식하고 있다.

우리, 인권상 수상자들은 방글라데시와 이란 당국이 이 두 인권상 수상자들에 대해 한 행동을 맹렬히 비난한다. 그러한 행동은 인권 원칙에 위배될 뿐만 아니라 정의와 민주주의, 자유를 중시하는 사회를 건설하는 데에도 장애가 되고 있다.

광주인권상 수상자들은 해당 정부들에게 즉각적인 괴롭힘을 중지하고 고소를 취하하며 아딜루 라만 칸과 이란교사노조의 여러 선생님들 비롯한 국제대표 시바 아멜리라드 안전과 안녕을 보장할 것을 촉구한다. 그들이 보복이나 박해를 두려워하지 않고 중요한 일을 계속할 수 있도록 해야 한다.

올해 세계 민주주의의 날의 주제는 “다음 세대의 역량 강화”이다. 우리는 민주주의를 발전시키고 세상에 지대한 영향을 미치는 결정에 젊은이들의 목소리가 반영되도록 다음 세대를 위해 지금의 위협들에 맞서 싸워야 한다.

국제사회와 인권단체, 그리고 정의와 평등을 믿는 활동가들이 함께 불의에 반대하는 목소리를 높이는 데 동참할 것을 촉구한다.

방글라데시와 이란 정부가 인권을 보호하고 증진할 책임을 다할 것을 요구하며 연대하자.

  : Statement from the Network of Laureates of Gwangju Prizefor Human Rights, NLG 

We the winner ofGwangju Prize for Human Rights Prize are deeply concerned by the harassment andIntimidation through legal charges against Human Rights Laureate Adilur RahmanKhan, A respected and well-known Human Rights defender of Bangladesh andanother Prize winner Institution, Coordinating Council of IranianTeachers’ Trade Associations (CCITTA). Iranian. We are sad distressed by suchblatant violations of human rights and the persecution of Human Rights defenderand Trade union who have dedicated their lives for justice and equality of thepeople at large.

Adilur Rahman Khan isfacing charges because of his tireless efforts in upholding human rights and exposingthe unlawful act of Government such as torture, killing and disappearances bythe security agency of Bangladesh.  

Furthermore, theGwangju Prize for Human Rights Special Prize winner, thecoordinating Council of Iranian Teacher’s Trade Association (CCITTA),especially Shiva Amelirad, the CCITTA international representative is alsofaces similar persecution by the Iranian government. We are aware of the workand vital role played by the Association in shaping the future of nations byimparting knowledge and nurturing the minds of the young children and youths.

We, all the HumanRights Laureates vehemently condemn the act by the authorities of Bangladeshand Iran against these two Human Rights Laureates. Such actions not onlyviolate the principles of human rights but also hinder progress in buildingsocieties that value justice, democracy, and freedom.

We the members of NLG callupon the respective governments to immediately halt the harassment, drop thecharges, and ensure the safety and well-being of Adilur Rahman Khan, ShivaAmelirad from the international representative of CCITTA and teachers fromCCITTA. It is imperative that they are allowed to continue theirimportant work without fear of reprisal or persecution.

The theme of thisyear’s International Day of Democracy, announced by the UnitedNations, is “Empowering the next generation” We must fight against thesethreats for the sake of the next generation, to advance democracy and ensurethat their voices are included in the decisions that have a profound impact ontheir world.

We urge theinternational community, human rights organizations, and individuals whobelieve in justice and equality to join with us in raising voices against theseinjustices.

Let us stand togetherin solidarity, demanding that the governments of Bangladesh and Iran upholdtheir responsibilities to protect and promote human rights.
